Chapter 8

PHILLIP woke, dragging his eyes open as the first sounds in the house

roused him from sleep. Not that he‟d gotten much. Haven had tossed

most of the night, alternating between clutching at him and then

moving away, only to talk in his sleep. Looking at his bed partner, eyes

closed, finally still and appearing to be resting peacefully, Phillip lay on

the mattress afraid to move. Yesterday had been hard on Haven, losing

his dad and all, and Phillip wanted to let him sleep, because he figured

the young man was going to have another tough day today.

The door to the bedroom cracked open, and Wally‟s head

appeared around it. Wally smiled slightly before backing away, the

door closing again without so much as a click. Phillip stayed where he

was even though his body craved coffee in the worst way. The door

opened again, and Wally walked in, setting a mug on the bedside table

before leaving again. Damn, he owed the man big time for that. Moving

a little at a time, Phillip sat up, sipping his coffee, thinking as he stared

at the cream walls. Phillip knew he could only hide here for so long.

There were things he needed to do. It wasn‟t as though he had a job to

go back to, but he felt like he was hiding, staying away from his life

because it was easier than going out and fixing what was wrong. Haven

rolled over, an arm sliding over his hips, and damned if Phillip couldn‟t

feel his body react in an instant, suppressing the urge to moan as

Haven‟s arm slid against his erection. He‟d been hard most of the night.

Every time he‟d breathed in Haven‟s scent, his dick would throb, which

would be fine under normal circumstances, but not with someone

grieving. Turning to look, he saw Haven‟s face, relaxed and calm, lips

slightly parted, eyes closed, hair half falling into his eyes. He looked so
